Gavin Hunt confirms arrival of Sundowns striker

Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United have completed another deal. Abubeker Nassir has moved to Matsatsantsa a Pitori.

SUPERSPORT UNITED SIGN ABUBEKER NASSIR FROM MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Following a long term injury and struggle for game time, the 24-year-old Ethiopian has joined SuperSport on a season-long loan deal. The move was first confirmed by Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi via iDiski Times last week.

“Nasir is not at Sundowns at the moment and I think he’s at SuperSport,” he stated after his side’s 4-1 win over Marumo Gallants when asked about Nasir’s whereabouts.

“I thought you should know that.”

GAVIN HUNT CONFIRMS THE DEAL

“Yeah, he is with us. He hasn’t played for two years.” Hunt told iDiski Times.

“We will try to get him fit, we have to get him fit, get him stronger and hopefully we can have him. It’s a problem we scored one goal in four or five games now.”

MANQOBA MNGQITHI SUPPORTS PETER SHALULILE

Mamelodi Sundowns supporters could not imagine this. Peter Shalulile has not scored a goal after starting six matches. According to coach Manqoba Mngqithi, the 30-year-old Namibia is more than a goalscorer for Kabo Yellow.

“To answer you on Peter, I was impressed with the effort he put into the game and that is the reason we will always support him, no matter what, because he never lacks giving the team everything he has,” said Mngqithi via Sowetan.

“When he is not scoring, it is the time for us as the technical team and the whole club to support him in his endeavours to come back. He is still going to be important for us this season.

“The reason we also decided to play him in the second leg was to try to give him the confidence so that he could bury one goal. We know that once he has scored the one goal, this thing will open up again and his confidence will be back.

“But there were a lot of positive things in his game and he was just unfortunate not to be able to score,” the Sundowns mentor concluded.

HUGO BROOS ON SUNDOWNS STAR THEMBA ZWANE

Meanwhile, Sundowns’ veteran superstar Zwane is starting to start less games after signing a new deal at 35 years of age. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is concerned.

“For the moment, I don’t understand why he’s not playing. Is he suddenly being old? I don’t know, I’m not there, I don’t see him in training but I think it’s more tactically (the reason) why he’s not playing,” Broos said, as quoted by FARPost.

“Okay, that’s the choice of the coach and I have to respect it. But I don’t think that will be a problem for now. But if that goes on, it can become a problem, certainly [because] a player like him, he has to play.

“When a player like at that age is always at the bench and coming in for 20 minutes. I hope the new coach changes his mind a little bit and I see more of Themba at Sundowns than what I saw now,” Broos concluded.
