Mark Zuckerberg says he might start a Twitch stream to show you just how good he is at his favourite video game, but can you guess what it is?
There are quite a few celebrities who have been vocal about their affection for video games, including The Witcher star Henry Cavill, who said he’s a big fan of the recently released Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and Danny Trejo, who said he prefers a cozier experience with Animal Crossing.
There’s also Elon Musk, who boasts that he was ‘one of the best Quake players in the world’ at one point, although the actual top player at that time said he wasn’t very impressed by the billionaire’s gaming skills.
Another billionaire, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed that his favourite game is… Sid Meier’s Civilization, and not only does he think he’s one of the best players but wants to start a Twitch stream to show just how good he is.
In an interview with Pubity, Zuckerberg was very open about his gaming habits when talking about his love for strategy game series Civilization.
‘In terms of strategy games, the one that I’m more likely to want to be the best in the world at is Civilization,’ he said, adding a very bold statement while he was at it:
‘I think at some point I should do like a Twitch stream of me playing with someone, because I’m pretty convinced that I’m close to grandmaster status. I’d be surprised if anyone in the world could beat me at that.’
Zuckerberg believes he can back the claim up, saying that he’s put in a lot of hours in Civilization 6:
‘Priscilla [Zuckerberg’s wife] looked at my Steam account the other day and she’s like, ‘What?! You played this for more than 1,000 hours?”
Those 1,000 hours have probably been spent across the eight years Civilization 6 has been out, but it’s still a large amount of time to put into one game – although probably not compared to some fans.
Civilization has become a staple in the strategy game genre since it first came out in 1991, and 2025 will bring the first new sequel in the series in almost a decade.
In our interview with the creative director of Civilization 7, Ed Beach went into further detail about the big new idea of the game being split into three ages (antiquity, exploration, and modern eras) and looked very impressive when we saw it back in August.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 will launch on February 11, 2025, on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
